I did not begin my graphic designer career in the usual way. I actually sort of stumbled in to it, if you want to know the truth. I was trained as a code monkey, you see. Although I have been an artist since I was very young, I always considered it more of a hobby than an occupation. That is why I ended up getting into computer science instead of graphic design school. I figured that I could use the coding to pay the bills and do the artistic stuff to unwind in my spare time.

When I decided to volunteer abroad, my family was not exactly pleased. My dad is a very practical man, and my mom is prone to excessive worry. Between them, international volunteer opportunities did not seem like an ideal pursuits. My dad said that, rather than going on an international volunteer opportunity, I should stay at home and figure out what I was doing with my life. When I told him that that was exactly what I was doing by volunteering abroad, he did not seem convinced. As me for my mother, she was worried sick at the idea. She was worried about terrorists, insects, diseases, you name it and it terrified her.

When I was growing up, I used to always look forward to playing educational games. My favorite ones were the educational board games. I was always pretty good at Scrabble. I was a very literate kid, and sometimes I could even beat the grown ups. At the time, I thought I was hot stuff. In retrospect I understand that they might have been letting me win, but I think I still could have given them a run for their money.
We didn’t have a lot of educational computer games when I was growing up, but we had a few. The Oregon Trail is a classic of my generation. Although current educational games are much more sophisticated, for the time it was pretty good. It really gave you a little bit of an idea of what life was like for the pioneers blazing a trail out west. The gameplay aspect was good enough to make it fun and entertaining.

Adult Basenji males are small dogs weighing only 22-26 pounds and standing about 16 inches high.
A Basenji is extremely curious, mentally alert, and lovingly affectionate. This dog requires a lot of exercise to take care of his high energy. Excellent dogs for agility training, the Basenji is also very smart and simple to train in general. Although the breed is shy with strangers, it’s very loyal to its family.
If you have other pets, the Basenji is probably not the best pet for you. The Basenji makes a great watch dog and he loves a walk every day. Basenji dogs are usually good pets but they do require that you spend a lot of time playing with them.
