Pest Control the Natural Way
When cultivating an organic garden, pest control is done in a different manner compared to conventional gardening. Harmful pesticides or herbicides are not used. The idea of organic pest control is to use natural predators and parasites to eat up the harmful insects. Here are 3 tips on pest control DIY:
- Add crushed eggshells to your garden to get rid of snails and slugs. They will avoid the area because like you, they don’t want to be “walking on glass.”
- Plant marigolds and nasturtiums to attract Hover Flies or Flower Flies that feed on aphids.
- Don’t chase away the ladybugs. They also help get rid of aphids. You can use plants like dill, cilantro and angelica to lure them to your garden.
