Two Glendale men sentenced for stealing Christmas mail

The U-S Attorney’s Office says 38-year-old John Bauer and 34-year-old Nathaniel Gatlin were sentenced in federal court to prison for 41 months and 30 months, respectively. A federal judge also ordered the pair to serve 36 months on supervised release after the completion of their prison sentences and make restitution. Bauer and Gatlin pled guilty to a charge of Theft of United States Mail between December 17th and 19th, 2005 from mail boxes located at the Scottsdale and Surprise Post Office Stations. Authorities say the mail boxes were driven to Bauers home. There, the men pried open the boxes. They were charged with stealing mail boxes which contained envelopes and packages with cash, gift cards, checks, and Christmas items. Copyright 2007 The Associated Press.
