New Research Shows Vitamin D Is Vital To Your Heart
August 4th, 2008A recent article in SCIENCE NEWS reports on a ten year study of 18000 male physicians that showed that low Vitamin D levels double the risk of heart attack. This makes lack of Vitamin D a heart disease risk factor on par with smoking and high blood pressure. Vitamin D can be obtained through proper diet and exposure to sunlight (be careful not to get too much sunlight due to skin cancer risk), but these sources are not usually adequate to supply the 1000 to 2000 units needed daily.
