No Plaque Can Mean Freedom From Periodontal Disease

Our mouth is a veritable breeding ground for about 22 types of bacteria that may exist and cause damage in it at any given time. The sticky film (plaque) on your teeth is formed by harmful bacteria in your mouth. This plaque will harden and become tartar if left unremoved with regular brushing and flossing. If tartar begun to form in your mouth, the early periodontal disease stage known as gingivitis is on your track. Bacteria multiply quickly behind tartar and produce toxins that inflame and redden gums. If not treated, the bacteria will spread below the gum line and the periodontal disease known as periodontitis is inevitable. Given enough time and damage, only periodontal surgery will be able to treat the condition and save your teeth.
