Obsessive Branding Disorder— by Lucas Conley

Hey - my name is Lucas Conley and I write about branding for Fast Company magazine. I started writing my first book, OBD: Obsessive Branding Disorder , a couple years ago. At that point, I thought the branding industry was at the height of its obsessive disorder, but OBD has continued to expand. Industry after industry - from pest control to mental health - branding is bromide du jour for ailing businesses looking for new strategies. Even everyday people now think of themselves as brands.
