Mice extermination – How to get rid of mice

Mice extermination might be seen as an inhumane task to perform. However, when you think about all the droppings mice can put out and the contamination they can cause by eating your food and possibly passing on diseases, home owners aren’t to blame for wanting to get rid of mice.

Many people hire professional mice exterminators to get rid of their problem. But this might be too expensive for other, who goes the “do-it-yourself route. Supplies are actually ready available in just about every hardware store there is, and you can choose for yourself if you want to go the “humane or “inhumane route.

On the top of the “inhumane list of extermination methods are the glue traps. These use glue to trap the mouse, which isn’t able to escape by any other means than death. Even if you find the mouse alive inside the trap, there is little you can do to get it loose.

The conventional traps on the other hand are more human in that you can choose to let the mouse free after it has been caught. However, there is some work to be done, because you will probably have to drive out to a forest and set it free. If you set it free within 200-300 yards from your house you are destined to have it return, as mice have a territory that is quite big. If you set it free close to other homes, you might just pass the problem on to someone else.

There are also new ways to get rid of mice such as electronic traps and sonic pest control. The electronic trap will give the mouse a shock that kills it instantly. These traps can be quite expensive, but are highly effective. You also have the sonic pest control which sends out ultra high frequency sound that keep mice away from your house. These devises have a little controversy surrounding them, as some people claim they don’t work.
