Searching Online for Telephone Numbers
If you wish to find out the telephone number of a person or business, or to discover the owner of a particular telephone number, you can consult several free or low-cost resources on the Internet.
A good place to start is whitepages.com, where you can type in the surname of a person or the name of a business and find out their phone number. If you also know the person’s first name and/or their city, state and zip code, you will be able to narrow the results down. After you hit the search button, a list of possible matches will appear. Scroll down the list until you find the person or business you are looking for to reveal their phone number and address, as well as a map pinpointing their location.
If you have the phone number but not the name of a person or business, you can do a reverse lookup on whitepages.com by selecting the reverse lookup tab at the top of the homepage and typing in the telephone number. The owner of that number will then be revealed.
Phonenumber.com is a very similar website, enabling you to search for the phone number of an individual or business. Reverse searches are also possible by selecting the reverse phone tab at the top of the page.
Another website that enables you to search for a business or a person by name or phone number is switchboard.com. You can also carry out a background search directly from this website to gain more information on an individual, such as their date of birth, previous places of residence, income, value of home and names of relatives.
If you have a person’s email address, you could try a reverse email search to find out their telephone number. Select the reverse email tab in intelius.com’s email search section and enter the individual’s email address. The person’s name, address and phone number will then be revealed if it is listed.
If you have been unable to find the owner of a telephone number using other websites, you can search a database that includes cell phones, payphones, and Internet phone services at abika.com, so there is a good chance that the number will be listed in one of these sources.
Another resource that you could use is reversephonedetective.com. It enables you to trace a telephone number from a database of unlisted and cell phone numbers.
If all of the free online resources fail, you could go to infoplaza.com and request a search for an unlisted number for a small fee of $25 for a reverse number search and $45 for a telephone number search, with the name and address provided by you.
With such a variety of online resources available, you should be able to locate the telephone number you require quickly, easily and, in most cases, free of charge.
