GI Joe cartoon story focused on the American military for the year it was founded in 1942 and created a huge industry in itself over the decades. GI Joe action figures has inspired young Americans to act and to defend the country, not to mention the official GI Joe Collector’s Club’s annual meeting was held for ten years.
The 10th annual convention was in 2006 at New Orleans, with Sgt. Slaughter as its special guest. The success of GI Joe’s story is both a commercial success and an evidence of American heroism. Did you know that most of the recent GI action figures are based on real life military and civilian heroes – like Dwight Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Bob Hope, Ernie Pyle, George Washington and Theodore Roosevelt just to name a few?
GI Joe made its debut as an animated American soldier in June 17, 1942, which was created by David Breger in the military’s YANK magazine. The GI Joe name entered households in America, along with its movie release The Story of GI Joe in 1945. The driving force behind GI Joe’s commercialization was the toy industry.
GI Joe action figures for Hasbro Toy Company, consisted of four parts, all members of the armed forces and the United States, Action Soldier, Action Pilot, Action Marine and Action Sailor. With eavy promotion of the toy industry, it became a household name, which corresponds to the military prowess and loved by young boys and adult men in mid-1960.
Every war that the United States has been involved in the story served as inspiration behind GI Joe; back to the Vietnam War in 1970, the name GI Joe was rebranded as an adventure figures, giving the initial war theme of GI Joe action figures a slight downplay. Brand name is often displayed in the presence of the press and TV journalists interviewed war heroes who like GI Joe action figures, and collectables, before serving in the army.
Since the mid 70’s, new lines of GI Joe action figures were launched every year – soldier GI Joe, Kung Fu GI Joe, Star Wars GI Joe and Adventure GI Joe; the creation of GI action figures were inspired by real life American military and cultural events. To this day, GI Joe has evolved to a revolutionary action figure to both old and new generation; not to mention it has also become a favorite gift for young boys and die hard toy collectors aren’t amiss with these GI Joe figures in their collection.

The first reference to a pocket watch is found in a letter written by Italian clockmaker Bartholomew Manfredi in 1462. By 1510, pocket watches were being manufactured in Nuremberg, Germany by a master locksmith named Peter Henlein. The manufacture of these watches spread across Europe during the 16th century.
These watches are of two types. The lepine has a winding stem that is in line with the seconds-marking dial on the face of the watch. The savonette watch has a winding stem that is at right angles to the direction of the seconds dial, on the face of the watch.
A lepine’s winding stem is commonly found at the 12 ‘o’ clock position and points straight up. The winding stem of the savonette is usually found at the 3 ‘o’ clock position and points to the right.
A savonette watch usually has a “consular”, or “hunter” face, with a hinged lid over the face. A consular watch case has a lid on the back also, to allow the movement to be removed. A lepine watch has an open face with a scratch-resistant crystal.

Zhu Zhu Pets, Chunk, is one of four toy hamsters in the Zhu Zhu Pets toy hamster collection. Zhu Zhu Pets Chunk is the snow white hamster in the bunch and is joined by Mr. Squiggles, Num Nums, and Pipsqueak. Zhu Zhu Pets have taken the nation by storm this holiday season, and have created an almost unprecedented frenzy among parents and grandparents trying to locate them in time for Christmas.
What are Zhu Zhu Pets? Zhu Zhu Pets are plush toy robotic hamsters that are programmed with an artificial intelligence, which allows them to mimic the behavior of a real hamster. Each Zhu Zhu Pet hamster has a unique personality and appearance, and Zhu Zhu Pets come with a range of accessories to make them even more fun!
Chunk is the cool, laid back “surfer dude” in contrast to the more mainstream light brown Mr. Squiggles, who is more of a leader. Chunk, however, is above all a Zhu Zhu Pet and so he is cuddly, lovable, and a great companion to children.
Besides Chunk and Mr. Squiggles, Zhu Zhu Pets include girl hamsters Num Nums and Pipsqueak. Zhu Zhu Pet’s manufacturer Cepia has already announced the release of four additional Zhu Zhu Pet hamsters. Watch out- Zhu Zhu Pets might become the next Beanie Babies! Your children will not be satisfied until they have collected each newly released pet for the next five years! Until then be sure you grab Chunk- Zhu Zhu Pet, he is too cute to pass up.

Most of the outdoor Christmas decorations that were scattered all over the lawns were the kind that lit up. Since it was early evening and the sun was already setting, they were all lit up in their bright glory. I pulled into my driveway and just stared. I was absolutely appalled and embarrassed. I wanted to pack up my things and move right back to my old neighborhood. Directly across from me was a giant lit Santa. He must have been at least 6 feet tall and by far, the most ridiculous of all of the outdoor Christmas decorations on my block. He was swaying slightly in the breeze, making him appear as if he was waving at me. I couldn’t get over the fact that all of my neighbors had managed to get all of their outdoor Christmas decorations set up in only a few hours. Apparently, I had not received the neighborhood decorating schedule.

An antique wall clock can introduce stylishness to any home. From modern apartment to period cottage, these stunning clocks can add to your current decor. In addition to being an expression of your individuality, they also tell the time! But with such a large assortment of styles on the market, just how do you decide which one is right for you? Here are a few points to contemplate.
You might like to go for an antique clock that is in keeping with the style of room in which you are going to show it. Antique French clocks look stunning in a Provence style kitchen, for example. However, a blend of old and new also works well and many models of antique wall clock will add a feel of timelessness to a contemporary room. Size is also important. Antique grandfather clocks are striking but take up a lot of room and can easily overshadow a small space.
It is also worth spending time considering the details of a clock. Which style of wood do you favor? Wooden antique clocks are frequently made of cherry, walnut or oak and every one of these has its own individual characteristics. Also, decide how simple or ornate you would like your clock to be, and what impact you want the clock to have in the general decorative design of the room. Big wall clocks can certainly add the wow factor, but perhaps you favor a more elegant, modest look.
How do you make your mind up which antique wall clock is best for you? Think about the points above and take your time. The pursuit may take a while, but it will be worth it because you will have a solid asset as well as a thing of beauty which can be passed down from generation to generation.

Have you ever noticed how some people seem to touch your life in a very special way? They are the people that from the first time you meet them you know that you have just made a friend. I was blessed with this kind of relationship with one of my dearest friends. She is very giving and caring. It is no great surprise that one of her hobbies is making and also collecting angels. The first year I knew her she gave me an angel Christmas decoration that she had made. It was made with wooden beads and buttons and had a very sweet cherub face. She had made several of the beautiful decorations for a craft sale fund raiser we had at church. It was helping at this fund raiser that I found out that she collects angels.

This is how we started to accumulate, one piece at a time, a great bunch of antique curio.
When my kids were growing up, it was easy to decide what to put into the antique oak curio cabinet. After all, we had very creative children. They were always involved in arts and crafts, from the time they were very little until they graduated high school. We would fill the antique curio cabinet with drawings, sculptures, pinch pots, clay figurines, and all the other beautiful decorations that children make. Once they left the house, however, it seemed a little bit absurd to keep the cabinet filled with their childhood art projects. For a while, it was nice to have it there because it reminded us of how much we missed them, but soon we realized that, as they were moving on with their lives, we had to move on with ours.

I am a die-hard fan of Lego. When I was young I always cry for Lego as my birthday, Christmas, Children’s Day and all kinds of holiday or anniversary’s gift. In school, we had a small Lego club. Almost every child would love to join and exchange Lego toy and learning experience. Lego is part of my life that bring full of joy and knowledge in childhood and even now.
As a father of two boys, we still love to play my Lego collection together. In fact, we spend many weekends and school holidays to assemble the little block by block while we learning relevant knowledge and sharing each other’s thoughts. Lego is not only helps my boys to spend time on healthy hobby, but also improves their general knowledge, learning interests and build close relationship with them.
Last year, we went to big Lego sales, my younger son found this little cute box from the bottom shelf in the shop. He loved it so much and even could not release it to let us pay for it. From that day, my little John always holds it whenever he goes. He just loves this small red boat attached with cannon and Imperial Soldiers witch gives him full of adventure imagination.
This Imperial Soldier set actually looks pretty cool which is very easily to get your attention. In fact, it is a small set that only contains 24 elements and 1 figure. In another word, this set is extremely simple only takes few minutes to put together.
You can get a figure of the original ‘bluecoat’ Imperial Soldier, a boat and a black pinned thump cannons. The little soldier is similar to the lieutenant that comes with most of the sets, but he has a bicorne hat instead of a tricorne. The cannon do works but not very well could spring out cannon ball in every time. There are 2 oars to row the boat, plus a pistol and cutlass for the soldier to defend himself. Nevertheless, there are also 6 black cannon balls standby. You will love this very cute boat once you finish it. The best to do is to get 3 to 4 sets of Harbor Sentry, then you can have a nice little patrol for your forts.
Both I and my two young boys love this smart boat set very much. It is super set for your Lego collection as well as to children. I highly recommended the Harbor Sentry set to any Lego fans and collectors.
