2. Do not force your child to participate in activities they do not like. If you are having a family dinner and your Autistic child does not want to sit at the table with a lot of people let them sit where they are comfortable.

Marijuana Addiction - a bigger problem than heroin

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Marijuana is commonly thought of the least damaging of the prohibited drugs, and certainly, the short-term negative results of marijuana usage are not as obvious as with other illegal substances. But even if the damage done is relatively slight, when we bear in mind the vast numbers of marijuana smokers, marijuana may in reality be doing more damage than any other drug on the market!

Lots of folks consider that marijuana is not a destructive drug and that it should be as lawful to buy and use as alcohol. Marijuana is the most commonly used illegal drug in the industrialised world and, besides liquor, marijuana is the most commonly used drug by young persons.

Addiction to Methamphetamine

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Methamphetamine, referred to normally as ‘Ice’, is the drug of choice for modern merry-making youth.
Australia has the unhappy privilege of leading the world in meth abuse (followed closely by New Zealand) but most parents and community leaders don’t have a clue what they are dealing with.
Methamphetamine is an habit-forming substance that is very closely related to amphetamine, but has longer lasting and more noxious effects on the central nervous system. It has a high likelihood for misuse and addiction. Methamphetamine use is on the rise around the country. It has goto to epidemic proportions principally because it is easy to make using common everyday items.
Meth is habitually referred to as speed, chalk, ice, crystal, and glass. The drug causes wakefulness and bodily mobility and suppresses desire for food. Chronic, long-term use can lead to psychotic actions, hallucinations, and stroke. People who use meth frequently don’t sleep, regularly for days on end. They lose weight quickly because the drug dulls the appetite. For more information on Ice addiction visit us at http://www.addictiontodrugs.org

Drug Detoxification - the first step to Recovery

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Drug detoxification (normally referred to just as ‘detox’) is the most important part of becoming free from drug dependency, and for this reason, drug detox should be administered with great care.

Detox is a medical procedure, and should be managed only in a medical clinic under appropriate supervision. The reason for this is that detox can be lethal. What occurs to the body when one becomes addicted is a biochemical change, and to take this chemical away from the body all at once without proper care can turn a positive process into a fatal one.

Ideas of Backyard Swing Set:

When I was young, I would spend a large chunk of my time outside playing. I was lucky that I grew up in a close knit neighborhood, and we were very safe from things like traffic and strange people. We had wide open spaces in which to play, and we never felt like we were in any type of danger. One thing we spent a lot of time playing with was the swing set that was in our yard.
