Common tips from celebrities who have young, fresh-looking faces always point this out “Don’t go to bed with make up on–always wash your face”.
Caring for your skin usually begins with such simple, yet necessary steps which often require you to religiously follow daily routines. There are four easily achievable steps which, with persistence, can give you youthful, glowing skin.
Get rid of that “later” attitude. Consistency should always be adhered to, even if your bed is so enticing and your body feels tired–don’t climb into your bed yet. Remember, without Therapeutic Lifestyle Change (TLC), you may be adding years to your skin.
Four steps for more youthful and glowing skin:
1. Cleansing
Before heading to bed, try to wash your face first. The key to maximizing the effects of good facial skin care habits is to learn the right cleansing technique. You know that your face is often exposed to dirt, pollution and grease, and neglectful habits can cause damage. Pimples, blackheads, whiteheads are among the common results of forgetting your skin care routine.
Start with a mild cleanser. Some would recommend water soluble cleansers like Cetaphil, as it is good for sensitive skin and often advised by dermatologists. Cleanse your face gently in a circular pattern, moving up to your T-zones.
2. Toning
This is optional. You may use it 3-4 times a week only, depending on your preference. Note that there are times your cleanser cannot move away all the dirt, so it’s best to use a toner.
3. Exfoliating
This leaves your skin glowing. Exfoliating, however, is mainly to remove dry and dead skin cells as part of your beauty regimen, so don’t overdo it. No more than three times a week is recommended.
4. Moisturizing
The key to more beautiful skin is through moisture. Next to cleansing, it is the second most important part of your skin care routine because maintaining hydrated skin is indeed crucial. Dry skin loses it’s elasticity, which causes wrinkles and saggy skin. So dry skin is the main reason for the early signs of skin aging, like wrinkles and sagging. Sure, wrinkles are natural, but their progress can be slowed down. So dermatologists highly recommend the use of proper moisturizers, depending on your skin type. It would be best to see a doctor to know what skin type you have.
Also, apply moisturizing lotion or cream to your body after showering (lotions hold the moisture in) because the same theory of elasticity and aging skin applies to your body as well as your face. Remember, moisture should not be equated to “oiliness.”
Proper caring for your skin needs consistency. It’s never too late to start your skin care regimen. Do these steps often in order to attain more supple, smoother and youthful skin.
