I got my first drum kit when I was about 10 years old. Actually, it was more of a toy drum set. It was made out of plastic for the most part, and it was pretty flimsy, but I really liked it. I did not know anything about drum kits. All I knew that was that I loved to bang on things with stick and make loud noises. That, after all, is the fundamentals of being a drummer. I have always been a big history buff, and World War II has always been one of my biggest interests. I remember watching videos on the history Channel of amphibious landing vehicles coming ashore at Normandy, and being quite impressed with the display. As a kid, I used to daydream about being part of the invasion. It seemed like such a cavalier, adventurous sort of thing to do. Nowadays, of course, I know that war is not all glory. The people getting out of those amphibious vehicles were risking their lives, and many of them lost them in very painful ways. Nonetheless, my fascination with war and war machinery has remained.

Raising children can be a very busy and expensive time in ones life. My husband and I have two sons. We have wanted to give them as many experiences as possible growing up to help insure that they will lead a rich and full life. We have also tried to teach them the importance of budgeting money so that they will be able to afford the things that they need once they are on their own.
