You may even have a huge variety from which to choose. It makes you wonder though, are there just too many? Though I’ve never heard of a group for gum chewers, nothing would surprise me any more.

The Workplace Privacy

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

I never really thought about privacy in the workplace before I started working at my current job. Workplace privacy is not a very big issue when you have your own office, but when you are forced to work in a cubicle, it becomes a central concern.

In general, I am not a very private person – I have nothing to hide, and I am not threatened by people expressing interest in what I’m doing. Nonetheless, when you are completely crowded in by people For nine hours a day, five days a week, it becomes more important to keep your workplace private.

Trial Preparations with the Constitution

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

When I’m getting ready for a trial, I like to be organized. I have seating charts for the jurors, legal binders full of exhibit tabs and discovery information, and witnesses all prepped and ready to go. I also have a tendency to read the Constitution before each trial. It’s something that I started fresh out of law school, and I’ve been doing it so long I almost have the whole thing memorized. It’s nice to know where your roots are. So, I read it every time. I recently read the article, “Separation of Church and State.” It’s about the origins of that phrase, which I already knew wasn’t in the Constitution. It was pretty interesting though and really made me think about how this country is put together and where it is going. It’s a great article.

President Bush And What History Will Say

Monday, September 1st, 2008

The price of oil has risen to the ‘pain at the pump’ and ‘gas shock’ level of terminology. We now have the ’stay-cation’ as a household word. Whether this particular development should be laid at President Bush’s doorstep, when middle class citizens are pawning wedding rings so Joe Average can get to work, people will tend to remember the President’s oil connections in an unfavorable light. Unfair? Perhaps. Nonetheless, the connection will likely be recorded as legacy content.

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

Drug use among teens has reached nationwide epidemic levels. No matter how on top of it  you are, your teenagers are going to be exposed to drugs at school and around their peers, the very place you think should be a safe environment. Mrs. Reagan’s ‘Just say no to drugs’ campaign had absolutely zero effect. St Martin Island: A perfect vacation?

Monday, August 18th, 2008

When we got to St Martin Island, we were a little bit surprised. I guess I should have thought about it ahead of time, but I had no idea that the island would be so built up and overdeveloped. It was completely crowded from shore to shore. There was almost no empty space.

Don’t get me wrong – there still were beautiful beaches on St. Martin Island. It is actually famous for its beaches, as well as its hotel resorts. There was little serenity, however, as every place we went was completely crowded with other visitors.
