Backpack Sleeping Bags

Okay, typically everyone loves sleeping bags. At least at some point in their lives. After all, the mere concept of a sleeping bag is totally fun. It makes many people think of sleep-overs, camping trips, and just plain camping out on the living room floor, and staying up late. Needless to say, sleeping bags are much nicer than they were back in the day. After all, now you have plenty of choices, and many different levels of backpack sleeping bags, mummy bags, down sleeping bags, and kids themed products. If you are planning on taking your bag camping, then you may want to focus more on the backpack sleeping bags.

A few websites that should not be overlooked are SportsmansGuide.com, REI.com, and CheaperThanDirt.com. These sites all offer a grand array of backpack sleeping bags to consider. These are geared toward both women and men, as well as children of various ages. However, one of the first things you should consider when shopping around for a sleeping bag is what you will be using it for. For instance, if you plan on going camping, think about where you are headed. This can make all the difference. For instance, if the climate is hot, then you will not need a heavy down-filled sleeping bag, but rather a thin bag that is ventilated well.

There are many different brands and styles of backpack sleeping bags. While some people use these inside tents, other individuals simply roll them out on the ground or dirt. This is certainly something to keep in mind when you go to purchase one. The exterior will need to be fairly durable if you plan on sleeping on the ground with it. After all, you do not want small twigs, sticks, and rocks poking you all night. Furthermore, you do not want bugs and insects burrowing through the bag. Therefore you may need to look at backpack sleeping bags with tough canvas exteriors. These are very durable.

The cost of backpack sleeping bags certainly varies a great deal. While you can likely find a cheap sleeping bag for a mere $30, do not expect it to be very good. Many avid campers and outdoorsmen spend well over $100 on their backpack sleeping bags. This is to ensure that they are durable and of high quality. These backpack sleeping bags will function well, and literally last a lifetime. Also, if you are camping in a frigid climate, you will likely need a nice backpack sleeping bag with a substance like down or Gortex lining. This will help you keep you warn throughout the night. Cotton bags will not do.

Northern pike fishing tips for South Dakota Lakes

Monday, October 4th, 2010

As far as northern pike fishing lures goes I liked a large red daredevle, a fluorescent orange and gold daredevle, a magnum floating rapala, musky lures like a suick or a musky spinner. Big lures were good lures and still are under the right circumstances. However I will say that he majority of my big northerns have come on bait and not northern pike lures.

I was always hoping to catch a huge trophy northern pike but the biggest I ever caught was just a hair over 17#. Not huge by my standards but damn big for SW MN. I’ve had my picture in the paper so often I lost count and most of the fish were northerns over 8-9#. 4# northerns were pretty common but anything much above that was considered a good fish for the area.

When I’m riding around checking out lakes, or even in other parts of the country, I just automatically pick out where I’d fish and for what. Sometimes you can drive by a spot on a strange lake and notice it looks and has almost the same conditions as another spot on a different lake, but a spot where you know you can catch big northerns.

Lake Thompson in South Dakota is one of the premier fishing lakes around and has a very nice state recreation area where you can rent RV and camping spaces. They also have some small cabins for rent.

If you are looking for South Dakota lake maps or land for sale you can take a look at this link. I know this guy personally and have bought and sold houses and land using his services. He’s a great guy and will work hard to find what you are looking for. SD land for sale

I know from when I looked for lake property and lake cabins for sale in Minnesota and South Dakota that Reed will be able to help you. He can also point you to a realtor in MN that should be able to help if you are looking for some lake front property there.

Fresh water fishing for northern pike

Monday, October 4th, 2010

I’ve had more than a few fishing boats from a small 12 foot aluminum to a 20 foot totally rigged out fishing boat. Aluminum, fiberglass and even wood. A couple of pleasure boats to because you do need to keep the wife happy now and then. I’ve even taught girlfriends who thought they’d hate fishing, to fish and to even love it. All they had to do was catch a few and they were hooked. Lol, pun intended. ;) Fresh water fishing is usually a lot of fun for everyone involved, even non fishing girlfriends.

I’ve fished for years and for most everything you can think of that lives in a lake. I’ve even learned a few things that aren’t common knowledge in that time and I’ll tell you a few on them in a bit.

Northern Pike fishing tips to catching plenty of fish. Northern pike are another south dakota fish I love to catch. I’ve always found the late summer pike fishing and the fall pike fishing to be the biggest fish and the best northern pike fishing of the year. With these tips you will catch plenty of fish in the fall and the rest of the year. Northern pike are a freshwater fish and are found in most midwestern lakes and rivers. Lol, pike will teach you how to reel, big fish, quick!

Using Dr. Juice on northerns was the first thing I ever tested that exceeded my expectations and I had a ton of fun testing it. My dad and I both loved catching walleyes and northerns but we wanted big walleyes and northerns. Crappies and perch were fun too but big fish was our goal so that’s mostly what we fished for.

Zombies are in your Neighborhood

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

As we shop at our local department or grocery store, we can’t help notice the seasonal displays of candy being shown at the main door. They are reminding us that the trick or treat holiday season is approaching and that decisions have to be made regarding costume choices.

Our neighborhood love the horror disguises more than hero or villain choices. Star Wars and Star Trek were big a couple of years ago, but the traditional scary styles have made a comeback. Probably because there has been more blood and gore in the latest Hollywood movie or video game releases this year.

A Halloween costume skeleton outfit is always a simple, easy to recognize choice for any age of participant. A zombie costume is another great horror idea that is seen each year on our street.

How To Organize Wooden Sheds

Now you have your new Wooden Shed in the back yard. You made it a family project and you built the shed in just 2 weekends. It was fun working together as a family project and the end result is a shed to put all that clutter in the garage into the new shed and you’re hoping that it will all fit in the new shed.

Organizing the shed is just as important what we don’t want is a repeat of your garage transformed in the Wooden Shed. Shelves were built to hold the boxes filled with all the kids’ school stuff that your wife has saved every year. Boards and spikes were installed to hold the garden tools. That old saying “a place for everything and everything in a place” goes well here. This is a job well done and you should be proud of your accomplishment.
