Designer dog boutiques are in fashion

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

Several years ago, Hollywood celebrities started the trend. Celebrities had been indulging in stylish wardrobes for themselves for decades. It suddenly became apparent that their pooch’s attire was not in keeping with their own stylish garments. These dogs, scantily clad in only a collar and leash, were not as stylish as they might be. Something had to be done. So, the pet industry responded with enthusiasm for this new hot trend. Thus, the designer dog boutique was born, creating a new niche market. Celebrity watchers soon picked up on the trend and designer dog boutiques sprouted up all over the country. The rest is history.

Today, there is virtually no article of clothing and accessories that remains untapped. Although I haven’t spotted underwear for dogs – yet – anything else you, or your dog might want to wear is available.

The ordinary dog collar and leash are now passe for some dog owners and dog fashion hounds. The most popular are heavy-duty nylon, with woven designs of hearts, bones, gender descriptive designs, plaids, stripes and jewel bedecked numbers. Some collars are lined on the inside with a gel backing, for added comfort. Dog collars, leashes and step-in harnesses are just the beginning of the offerings found in the designer dog boutiques.

The designer dog clothiers are thriving. Just as with human fashions, some of the haute couture designer dog boutiques have seasonal collections, featuring catalogs of this season’s latest dog fashions!

The days of old fashioned pets and pet supply stores might just be gone…

Homemade Dog Treats Are Healthier For Your Canine

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

Homemade dog treats really are healthier for your dog. Sure, it’s much easier to just buy them at the local grocery store or pet store. But the ingredients (and chemicals) that most of these treats are made with are not very healthy at all for your dog. A lot of them have artificial flavors, artificial coloring, added fats and other ingredients which are not good for the health of your pooch. And yes, there are lots of new dog bakeries opening up all over that offer homemade dog treats, but that sure can get expensive!
Making healthy dog treats really don’t take much time. Most dog treat recipes take only ten -twenty minutes max. What advantage you get from this is you are sure that your dog is having healthy food.

Making your own homemade dog treats is really fun and very easy, especially when you have simple dog treat recipes. Most of the ingredients you can find in your own kitchen to begin with. If you don’t have a rolling pin and cookie cutters, you may want to pick those up. You can even get the whole family to join in for even more fun and adventure! And your dog will really enjoy being the taste tester.

At first, the task of building a chicken coop may seem daunting but there is really not much to the process. In fact, anyone can build a chicken coop successfully as long as they follow these three simple tips. First, draw out your blueprints and review them carefully before you start the actual building process. Second, make sure enough sunlight will go into the chicken coop during the day, but not too much that will be uncomfortable for the chickens. Finally, make your measurements such that there is sufficient allowance for all the equipment you need to put inside the coop and enough room for your chickens to walk around. By following these tips, you can create a decent chicken coop in just 2 or 3 days.

Buy Artificial Grass – and save water!

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

When you consider where you will buy artificial grass – to do your part because 36 states will have water shortages in the next 3 to 6 years – consider Purchase Green.

The main environmental focus for the past decade has been CO2 emissions, yet for many around the world a lack of clean water, water shortages and poor sanitation is a more pressing issue. Worldwide it is estimated that approximately 1.2 billion people lack access to freshwater, which equates to one sixth of the world’s population. By 2050 this figure will have risen to 2 billion.

The US Government estimates (as of August 2009) that at least 36 states will experience water shortages in the next 3-6 years.

With the World Health Organization estimating that 80% of illnesses and deaths in developing countries are caused by unsanitary water or lack of water. The issue is truly a global one and not one for just the developing world.

How will the water industry address one of the most pressing human crises of the 21st century?

Artificial grass is one way to do your part. In the United States it is estimated that 60% of all water usage is for landscape irrigation. 60%! It is a combination of millions of households doing their part to help combat our water shortage. Imagine – 36 states with expected water shortages in the next 3 to 6 years!

According to the World Water Council the use of renewable water resources has grown six-fold since 1900 and is expected to double again by 2050, therefore recycling waste-water to create fresh water supplies will be vital globally, especially for developing and third-world countries.

The emerging environmental technologies sector is currently worth $600 billion worldwide and the water industry accounting for more than 50% of this business.

If you are not a “do-it-yourself” kind of person – have your artificial lawn installed by Panjia. Remember – 60% of all water usage in a typical residential setting is for landscape irrigation. Do your part!

The Importance Of An Outdoor Cat House.

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

I just cannot understand how the iconic doghouse has become a part of American culture, while there is very little mention or no mention at all, of the equally important and so very much needed outdoor cat house.

Every cat lover should think about that unfortunate neighborhood stray and that luckless feral.

An outdoor shelter in our back yard would go a long way in providing refuge for them on the cold and wet freezing winter nights.

Think about your indoor kitty. An outdoor house will give your indoor cat the much needed freedom it needs to spend time outdoors in comfort and in safety while you are away from home, at work, or while you’re asleep.
