Aquariums are simply containers for fish and other marine creatures. Most of the fish come from either the rivers and lakes or the oceans. There are usually two kinds of aquariums, fresh water aquariums and salt water aquariums. Tanks are usually made of glass or acrylic and are see through all around. Some people prefer to put aquarium backgrounds on one side of their tanks. These aquarium backgrounds are usually placed in the glass pane that is closest to the wall or the side that covers the wall most. Aquarium backgrounds are usually stuck to one pane of glass or one side of acrylic and can be changed as often as the owner wants.

There are many dog kennels in town, and I was totally clueless what to look for when I was boarding my pet. I was caught for time though, and about to leave on my holidays. There is a place for boarding dogs a couple of streets down, and they looked pretty clean and well run. I paid them a quick visit and chatted to the people who worked there, and they all seemed nice. I couldn’t actually go back to see the dogs, and looking back this should have raised my suspicions, but at the time I was oblivious. I something I now regret - it took… Mistakes to Avoid when Boarding Your Dog

You walk into someone’s home and are rudely assaulted by four paws and a tongue! Most dogs prefer to greet people this way, and many believe these dogs are just trying to make friends, but jumping up on people is a dangerous habit for your pet to develop. A big dog that is allowed to jump up on guests can be scary and intimidating, and an unfortunate incident may be the result of your pet’s misbehavior which is why learning how to stop dog jumping behavior is critical for the safety of your family, friend, neighbors and, even your dog.
By getting down to your dog’s level, you may be able to stop your dog from jumping on you. However, this won’t necessarily work with neighbors or strangers that you pass. You must teach your dog a command to stop jumping for situations like those.
For the training you should begin with your dog standing in front of you. You can immediately determine when your dog is about to jump up. What you want to do is look for the signs - muscles tensing, tail wagging etc… When you notice that they’re thinking about jumping up command the dog to sit. If the dog jumps up on you regardless (and he likely will at first) bring your knee up to his chest and firmly tell him Off. You might be tempted to say down. However, that is the command to get your dog to lay down and should only be used for that purpose.

You can’t help but love a cuddly pug. Their cute little wrinkly faces and adorable characters can’t be ignored. However, anyone that is contemplating adopting one should make sure that they know about the dire pug health problems that the breed faces.
If your dog shows the signs of muscle weakness or has difficulty is simply taking a walk, he/she may show signs of this disease called Pug Dog Encephalitis which affects the brain through inflammation. If your Pug is around the age(s) of 2 or 3 and shows these signs you should take your dog to the Vet as quickly as possible as it is known as a killer among the Pug community.
Another problem Pugs can get is called hemi-vertebrae which is a congenital abnormality. If your dog has this abnormality you will probably have to euthanize him. While there isnt much you can do about this, you can avoid the heartbreak of adopting a dog with this condition. The abnormality can be detected by x-ray. What happens is that the vertebra do not mature properly, causing a spinal imbalance. As the dog grows this imbalance causes pressure on the spine which can lead to paralysis of the hind legs.

Teaching a dog to stay is imperative not only for his safety, but in order to make him more pleasant to be around as well. If you can easily call your dog back to your side this will help keep him out of danger and out of trouble. However, this is not always as easy as it may seem.
If your dog is misbehaving, the best solution is to assert your alpha status. There are several methods to do this, but one of the most common is frequently telling your dog to “stay.” When you give your dog the command to “stay,” they should not move even when you do. Unfortunately, this is the opposite of what usually happens when this command is said.
Teaching a dog to stay can take a bit of patience, but it is quite important that your pet learn this command. Each time you practice the “stay” command with your dog, make sure that you progressively make the stay longer. You will know that your dog has successfully learned the command when you can go back inside of the house and your dog remains stationary outside. Of course, once you do get to this point, make sure that you release and praise him after a minute.

For a very long time, a hamster came with a cage and a wheel, and that was about it. These work well enough, and if that is all you want to have, you will still find that you have a happy animal on your hands. However, if you want to have more fun, and you want to give your pet more room to move around, you might want to build a hamster maze. These can be very colorful and a lot of fun to have in the house. Not only will your pet have more space, you will have a great time watching them move about in their neat, new home.

The Pug dog breed is one of today’s most popular breeds and anyone who is thinking about adding one to their family should become familiar with the specifics of pug dog health care.
One of the most distinguishable feature of the pug is their eyes. The position of their face and the shape of the eyes make them at risk to injury and complications because their eyes are not well protected. Constantly check your pet’s eye and if you notice any ulceration, take your dog to the vet immediately.
Weight gain is another problem, commonly found in pugs, which could have an adverse effect on their health. Pugs as a breed has a tendency to overeat, so be careful about your pets food intake and maintain its weight at healthy limits.
Pugs are very sensitive to heat and humidity, so don’t leave your dog outdoors without shade or locked in a car during the summer. An overheated pug can have a hard time breathing, so make sure that you don’t leave him anywhere where he might be subjected to high heat for any length of time.

There are different types of dog training techniques and one that is kind to both owner and pet is reward training. The use of reward training for your pet is an effect way of teaching obedience and good behavior. This technique is quite effective and is used by both military and police to train their dogs. It is also used by those who train animals for TV and movies. Reward training is a great way to teach all dogs whether they are a family pet or a working dog.
Reward training is based on giving a treat or reward when your dog performs the behavior you desire. Most often it means a special treat, but simply telling your dog that he was a good boy and patting him on the head can be construed as a wonderful reward for your dog.
A rewards based training program can be used to teach your dog pretty much everything. All you need is consistency in training, and your dog will eventually do the desired task and you will reward him directly after.
So, for example, if you were teaching your dog to sit using this method, you would put a treat above the top of his head and then push it back further and further. The dogs eyes will follow the treat causing him to sit of his own free will. When he does this, say the command “sit.” When the sit is accomplished you can praise him and give him the treat. The dog will soon relate the sitting action with the word “sit” and with the yummy reward!

The tiny Chihuahua is a favorite pet among those who are short on space but long on the
desire to have an adorable pet. Here are some tips on raising a Chihuahua.
When bathing your Chihuahua, it’s very important
that you’re careful to avoid getting water into his ears. Wet ears can easily become infected so
make sure you thoroughly monitor your dog’s ears and get him to a Vet if you notice and signs of infection like discharge, redness or excessive scratching.
Dog obedience for your Chihuahua is not only good for potty
training and teaching “dog manners” but it is essential for
safety. You should start with housebreaking but be sure to advance to basic obedience training so you can call your Chi back to your side should you see him heading into a dangerous situation.
Chihuahua’s should have their nails clipped monthly. Use cat claw trimmers which
resemble traditional scissors, only they have a curved notch
for the claw.
Chihuahua’s are prone to weak knees. Be sure to watch your chi carefully, and if you
notice any difficulty walking, get him checked out by a vet.
Be sure you get the proper Veterinary care for your pet. When your dog is a puppy, he will need
to go to the vet in order to get his shots, and then he will
need to visit the vet for yearly checkups as well as for dental cleanings and booster shots.
