Decrease in Concealed Handguns Increases Home Intrusion

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

That’s right, taking guns out of law-abiding citizens leaves them sitting ducks. Studies show that areas with less lawfully-owned guns have a higher crime rate than those that have more. With the rise of liberal policies that threaten the right to bear arms according to the United States Constitution, you better seriously look into other home security avenues to protect your family. Home intrusion is out of sight in areas like Australia, United Kingdom, and Mexico where guns are banned. Why? Because criminals own guns illegally anyways. Banning guns only takes them away from law-abiding citizens leaving them defenseless. Make it easier on the criminals why don’t ya! Let’s face it, the police force could never be large enough to protect every citizen from heinous crimes. The cost would be impossible to meet.

Law school Dean Larry Velvel writes critically about The New York Times for their failure to publish in a timely fashion vital information of the NSA spying program on the eve of the momentous 2004 Bush Gore election.

The US Marine Corp is Great; Know It, Live It, and Believe It

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

It is amazing indeed that a news story whether right or wrong is so quick to be taken as truth. Even worse when that news story degrades the men and women in the Marine Corps, such as the recent story in Iraq over the killing of 24 members of a family in a city in Iraq.

Police Jobs Training On The Go

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

No matter what shape the economy is, there will always be police jobs out there. When you think about it, it can be a pretty cushy occupation. You make a lot of money, and you don’t need to have a lot of education to do it. The problem is that it is no picnic. Don’t get me wrong, going to a police academy is easy. Police Officer training is pretty simple as well, and you do not have to be at a very high level of physical fitness to be a cop. Nonetheless, make no mistake about it. Police officers really do have to work sometimes.

Whistle Blower

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

With all of the whistleblower cases in the news lately, You would think that it would be easy to get protection when reporting fraud. On the surface, it is easy. There are federal whistle blower laws, as well as local and state laws protecting people who disclose sensitive information to government investigators. Whether you are blowing the whistle on corporate scandal, police misconduct, or even the actions of government employees, you should theoretically be sheltered from any fallout.

More on Whistle Blower and the laws around it.

A facelift for Mount Rushmore

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

There is going to be a big announcement made at Mount Rushmore South Dakota this spring. Apparently there is someone that wants to put another face on the mountain, the face of Ronald Regan. The fund raising has begun as the sculpting of a face this big is not a small undertaking. It has not been mentioned who the sculpture will be done by although there have been rumors that a local man would be in charge. The official announcement is designed to illicit public opinion about the project. Opinions will be gathered for several months before the final decision is made to authorize the go ahead on the project. Most people thought there was no more room on the mountain for another sculpture but after years of computer models a way was found to actually take some of the removed rock and reattach it therefore making it possible to get one more head up there. There were several suggestions as to who’s head should actually be put there. Al Gore was dismissed immediately as were Bill Clinton and George Bush. Some thought we should wait for Hillary Clinton to become president and put her up there. Obama immediately objected to that suggestion.

Mind Control Techniques

Saturday, January 12th, 2008

Electronic mind control slavery has taken its part in those of us who have the ability to reach others at an emotional level.  I sometimes read these mind control posts on different political boards.  Back in the 50s hypnosis was a major focus of mind control research.  To add to the possibilities of mind control, there are thousands of individuals seeing what they call master numbers 1111, 222, 444, 555, etc.  The more I learn the more disturbing the potential of mass mind control becomes.  My only comment: mind control works on the weak-minded, so victims should take that into consideration. Most experts say it’s only a matter of time before mind control weapons are a reality. There are a lot of mind control techniques that give the power of influencing others to follow your lead. Conversational hypnosis is something nearly similar to mind control. Read the full story for conversational hypnosis.

If Barack Obama Becomes President, Here Is One Reason Why

Saturday, January 5th, 2008

I just read a hilarous article on why Obama might become President. Apparently Obama has a chance because he is not bald. The blog article listed all the past US Presidents and pointed out that they all had hair.

Should Politicians Undergo Background Checks?

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008

With the election season upon us, we should ask ourselves if we really know who these people are that are running for public office. Seriously, who are these guys? Have they committed crimes in their past? Are they to be trusted? There was a time when the media would do such research for us, but in this time of partisanship and bias, the media can’t be trusted to deliver this information. It may be time for the voting public to perform background checks themselves on these candidates, and share this information  via the new media, that being blogs and websites.
Background checks enable consumers to delve deeper into an individual’s background, giving them the information they need to feel secure that their potential date, neighbor, caretaker or business partner is really who they say they are.

Backgroundcheckforcriminalrecords.com has researched a broad range of background check and criminal record providers, and it has chosen “Instant Background Report” as its exclusive partner for this all-important service to employers, landlords, and individuals. Iowa Tourism - Who Else Offers so Much?

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

If you are a political junkie and would like some information on Iowa tourism then you have come to the right place.  Iowa, until the 3rd of January, is filled with talking mouths, politicians in every corner of the state making promises that after election will never be remembered by them and events that you can go to and meet and greet the candidates.

It’s the time of the election process when Iowa tourism isn’t comprised of people that want to see the zoo or the capital or go gambling at one of the casinos, they come for the entertainment of listening to the candidates.

Whether you are a political junkie or not you can’t help but get interested in what they have to say, after all, one of them, and who knows which one, will end up being the President of the United States after the election.  Most people would like to be able to say they have met the President, shook his/her hand and probably remember it for years to come.

So, join the Iowa tourism flood and come see the state and all it’s candidates prior to January 3 when, alas, they will leave the state until the next election and then it starts all over again!  Ahhh, for the financial benefits of the campaign trail!  Bring them on!!

Michael Cherney - Not UK Court

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

Michael Cherney the politically active Russian who owns the Michael Cherney Foundation is trying to get a multi billion dollar settlement from Oleg Deripaska, the owner of the Russian aluminium giant Rusal.

In order for Michael Cherney to get his case heard in a London court, his lawyers have got to convince the London judge that the UK is the appropriate forum for the determination of the claim.

To most observers this would seem an obvious point, as the UK has nothing to do with the dispute, neither Michael Cherney or Oleg Deripaska live in the UK and the dispute originates thousands of miles away, in Russia, and involves a Russian company.

If the case does go to court, then it is likely to be very expensive for Mr. Cherney to bring as When a non UK domiciled party sues in the UK, the defending party has the right to ask for security for costs in the event that the case fails. Michael Cherney must therefore deposit a substantial sum to cover the costs of Oleg Deripaska.

DC Council Panel Targets Rates for Payday Loans

Monday, August 27th, 2007

If you’re want to get a payday loan in DC, pay attention. Payday lending was criticized at a D.C. Council hearing as an abusive service targeting minority and poor customers, and defended as a useful financial tool for people needing some emergency cash.

The city’s attorney general has proposed limiting the annual rate charged at payday loan services to 24 percent. In effect, the proposal would limit to less than $1 the maximum fee firms could charge for a $100 loan repaid within two weeks. Now, they charge customers $15 or $16 to borrow $100 for two weeks.

SBA Report on Regulatory Cost

Friday, August 10th, 2007

The SBA commissioned regulatory cost research to provide analysis of what the cost of compliance with regulatory requirements imposes upon small business.

The report finds that it costs small business $7,647 per employee to comply with federal regualtions.  These are costs that otherwise could be used to increase employee pay, hire new employees, compete with greater competitiveness in a global economy.

Small businesses are the driving force of new job creation, accounting for over 70% of all new jobs created.  The burden of regulatory compliance is placing this economic engine in jeopardy.  The report asks the questions about whether this economic engine can possibly survive.

You Should Support Our Troops

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

Whether it’s actors, musicians, athletes, or just business moguls. I’m often shocked when they discourage our war efforts. They ramble on about what should be done and how fighting is bad. However, you never once see them do anything productive that actually keeps this great nation safe from harm. Continue - You Should Support Our Troops

John Edwards’ Decision To Stay In Presidential Race Draws Criticism

Saturday, April 28th, 2007

When John Edwards decided to continue his bid for the Democratic nomination for president, despite the fact that his wife Elizabeth’s cancer has returned, he has been facing some intense criticism.
Because of this decision, John Edward’s character, ethics and capacity for family love have been hotly debated over the last few days. He has been labeled both callous and courageous, and has been blasted for his seemingly insatiable ambition.

Those disapproving of his staying in the race ask angrily, “Now that Elizabeth is ill and her life almost certainly shortened, how can her husband not offer her relaxed, private time? Others state just as emphatically, “This decision is the test of the man. Despite everything, he shows grit - he persists.

Discuss the John Edwards presidential run.

What You Can Do About African Poverty

Saturday, April 21st, 2007

The other way in which I try to give support is to buy Fair Trade goods in the local stores. The Fair Trade movement has been most successful in trying to combat African poverty by setting a fair price for farmers and growers in Africa, so they can achieve a reasonable standard of living. Some of the independent companies that have taken up the Fair Trade cause have been successful enough to be bought out by well-known brands. I buy Fair Trade coffee, tea, chocolate and bananas. So OK, it’s just my little bit. Imagine, once again, if everyone did the same.

My Political Rambles…

Saturday, March 3rd, 2007

It is time to tie problem companies to their political opponents. The Democrats do not address unethical practices of any kind if they can’t make political hay out of it. Do we ask our leaders to address the underlying problems of religious conflict, nationalism, hunger, and political oppression. Smith a friend of mime, a diehard liberal Democrat, has failed in the political game. And yet, a number of people continue to listen to Smith’s political musings—not  because of his so called intellectual insight, I would hate to see a massage go the way of today’s politics which is to attempt to label every political view as either liberal or conservative. Whatever our personal and political differences, we have the finest law money can buy.

Be Self Sufficient Alternative Energy

Sunday, February 25th, 2007

Being self sufficient is best. During our time, we have each experienced and observed the importance of energy to our civilization. In fact, energy is what our current civilization is centered upon. We need it to run our technology. It is what separates us from the Stone Age. But our current method of energy production has proved costly.
