Whether it’s actors, musicians, athletes, or just business moguls. I’m often shocked when they discourage our war efforts. They ramble on about what should be done and how fighting is bad. However, you never once see them do anything productive that actually keeps this great nation safe from harm. Continue - You Should Support Our Troops

When John Edwards decided to continue his bid for the Democratic nomination for president, despite the fact that his wife Elizabeth’s cancer has returned, he has been facing some intense criticism.
Because of this decision, John Edward’s character, ethics and capacity for family love have been hotly debated over the last few days. He has been labeled both callous and courageous, and has been blasted for his seemingly insatiable ambition.
Those disapproving of his staying in the race ask angrily, “Now that Elizabeth is ill and her life almost certainly shortened, how can her husband not offer her relaxed, private time? Others state just as emphatically, “This decision is the test of the man. Despite everything, he shows grit - he persists.
Discuss the John Edwards presidential run.

The other way in which I try to give support is to buy Fair Trade goods in the local stores. The Fair Trade movement has been most successful in trying to combat African poverty by setting a fair price for farmers and growers in Africa, so they can achieve a reasonable standard of living. Some of the independent companies that have taken up the Fair Trade cause have been successful enough to be bought out by well-known brands. I buy Fair Trade coffee, tea, chocolate and bananas. So OK, it’s just my little bit. Imagine, once again, if everyone did the same.

It is time to tie problem companies to their political opponents. The Democrats do not address unethical practices of any kind if they can’t make political hay out of it. Do we ask our leaders to address the underlying problems of religious conflict, nationalism, hunger, and political oppression. Smith a friend of mime, a diehard liberal Democrat, has failed in the political game. And yet, a number of people continue to listen to Smith’s political musings—not because of his so called intellectual insight, I would hate to see a massage go the way of today’s politics which is to attempt to label every political view as either liberal or conservative. Whatever our personal and political differences, we have the finest law money can buy.

Being self sufficient is best. During our time, we have each experienced and observed the importance of energy to our civilization. In fact, energy is what our current civilization is centered upon. We need it to run our technology. It is what separates us from the Stone Age. But our current method of energy production has proved costly.

Field Notes From a Catastrophe - Elizabeth Kolbert - Audio Book that is a MUST listen!
Elizabeth Kolbert has been a staff writer for the New Yorker since 1999, Prior to that she was a reporter for the New York Times . She received the American Association for the Advancement of Science’s magazine writing award for the New Yorker series on which this book is based. So this in not fiction or fantasy - It’s the bloody sad truth……
The UN report on the climate and the two other parts to be published later this month will support her findings. Americans ( and Europeans! - and a few of the fast grwoing new industrialized nations) need to wake up!
Americans have been warned since the late 1970s that the buildup of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere threatens to melt the polar ice sheets and irreversibly change our climate. With little done since then to alter this dangerous path, the world has reached a critical threshold. By the end of the century, it will likely be hotter than at any point in the last two million years, and the sweeping consequences of this change will determine the future of life on earth for generations to come.
Taking listeners from the melting Alaskan permafrost to storm-torn New Orleans, acclaimed journalist Elizabeth Kolbert approaches this monumental problem from every angle. She interviews researchers and environmentalists, explains the science, draws frightening parallels to lost civilizations and presents the moving tales of people who are watching their worlds disappear. Growing out of an award-winning three-part series for the New Yorker , Field Notes from a Catastrophe brings the environment into the consciousness of the American people and asks what, if anything, can be done to save our planet.
What’s coming will make the Volcano Krakatoa - (The Day the World Exploded) look and sound like peanuts…….

Two key people were on hand to recover the debris from the Roswell saucer crash site: the base intelligence officer and a member of the Counter Intelligence Corps. They directed the recovery of the debris, which consumed a good part of the following day, and loaded the pieces into two vehicles. The debris was taken to Roswell AAF for disposition.
At about the same time, 100 miles away, Grady Barnett found what he believed to be a crashed saucer. Nearby were four small dead bodies. They had frail limbs and large heads with big, slanted eyes. According to Barnett, their bodies were encased in tight, one-piece, grey suits with no visible fasteners. Again, the military was quick to arrive. All witnesses were ushered away and ordered not to speak of the event.
On June 8, 1947, six days after the first event (all the debris may have been from the same vehicle), a press release approved by Lt. W. Haut, announced that saucer debris had been recovered by the 509th Bomb Group. The debris from both finds was loaded aboard a B-29 and flown to Carswell AFB in Fort Worth, Texas where it was announced that it was nothing more than the remains of a standard weather balloon…

All eyes are turning to the 2008 political season—especially those of Democratic voters, who are casting about for a galvanizing leader to help them win back the White House. Here is a great audio book ‘The Case for Hillary Clinton’, that will help you make your opinion:
Longtime political analyst Susan Estrich argues that no candidate even approaches the power and promise of Hillary Rodham Clinton , the senator from New York. Both a passionate spokesperson for progressive values and a strong advocate for our troops overseas, Hillary Clinton has used her time in the Senate to establish herself successfully as a genuine political powerhouse. And she offers Americans a once-in-a-lifetime chance to break the world’s most prominent glass ceiling and elect a female president of the United States.

If someone was a victim or was injured in an incident involving two (or more parties), a civil suit may ensue with the plaintiff asking for compensation for the damages and/or injuries sustained from the incident.something called a structured settlements is made. It is basically a series of payments made to the injured party over a specific period of time (usually taking several years). Most payments are made on an annual basis and so payments for structured settlements have come to be known as annuities. as the plaintiff, you might just want to sell off your structured settlement for some cold, hard cash. The question is, where do you find such buyers? a structured settlement buyer, And how can you trust them?

Living Will
All the newspapers and media channels have been bombarding us with the regular updates on the life of Terri Schiavo’s family. This incident has become a hotly debated topic in America and also across the world, that has even reached the US Congress. Our legislators have passionately discussed this sensitive issue in detail though there has been no consensus on this topic. However, all of this discussion and turmoil could have been avoided with one piece of legal document.

Most of these campaign signs have the candidate’s name prominently displayed, perhaps a short slogan, and what office they are running for. For the most part, campaign signs simply say something like “Page for Mayor” and they leave it at that. The great thing about these is that they are rather inexpensive, and keep the name of the candidates on the minds of those who see them. Some may use color to let people know what party they belong to, or the word ‘re-elect’ to state they are already in office and are up for another term.

In the mid-Sixties Barry McGuire wrote and performed a song that was to become the mantra of our Apocalyptic times. The first verse of McGuire’s hit song is as follows:
The eastern world, it is explodin’,
Violence flarin’, bullets loadin’.
You’re old enough to kill, but not for votin’.
You don’t believe in war, but what’s that gun you’re totin’?
And even the Jordan river has bodies floatin’.
But you tell me
Over and over and over again my friend,
Ah, you don’t believe we’re on the eve of destruction.
It will come as no surprise that the title of McGuire’s 1965 hit song was Eve Of Destruction . . .

Outside of the academic environment, a harsh and seemingly ever-growing debate has appeared, concerning how mass media distorts the political agenda. Few would argue with the notion that the institutions of the mass media are important to contemporary politics. In the transition to liberal democratic politics in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe the media was a key battleground. In the West, elections increasingly focus around television, with the emphasis on spin and marketing. Democratic politics places emphasis on the mass media as a site for democratic demand and the formation of “public opinion”. The media are seen to empower citizens, and subject government to restraint and redress. Yet the media are not just neutral observers but are political actors themselves. The interaction of mass communication and political actors — politicians, interest groups, strategists, and others who play important roles — in the political process is apparent. Under this framework, the American political arena can be characterized as a dynamic environment in which communication, particularly journalism in all its forms, substantially influences and is influenced by it.

Hellenic polytheism, also known as the Ancient Greek religion or “Dodekatheon”-a term that comes from the number twelve, which in Greek is pronounced “dodeka”-has been extensively studied over the centuries as a vital part of the ancient Hellenic times. The Twelve Olympians, residing according to Hellenic mythology in Mount Olympus, encompassed human and divine characteristics that were portrayed in the popular stories of the times. Although Greeks did not have a term for religion back then in the sense of a dimension of existence distinct from all others, they believed that gods exercised authority of the fortunes of human beings and demanded recognition as a condition for salvation.
