Some Ways Of Getting a Story Published

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Any writer will tell you how thrilling it is to see your name on a byline with your first published piece. They’ll also usually tell you it took quite a while to get that big thrill. Writers are not known for their marketing skills. You may be a terrific writer, but if you don’t market your skills, it’s pretty slow going. Once you know how to go about getting a story published, it can happen fast! If you’re just starting out in your writing career, here are some pointers on the fast track to getting published. You finished your story. You revised and nitpicked until it screams perfection. After a final proofreading, you submitted your work to that well known national magazine. You’re prepared to wait a few months for a reply.
What’s wrong with this scenario? Although you followed the standard protocol, your chances of getting a story published in this magazine are probably not good. Don’t get me wrong, this does not necessarily reflect on the quality of your work. It could be that the editor is simply not interested in your topic at this time. You may not even receive a rejection notice. Worse yet, you sit and wait, wasting time and other, better opportunities. You may even start to lose confidence in your writing skills!

Making Crafts For Kids Fun And Safe

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

When the days turn dark early, the air turns cold, and the snow starts to fall, I always pull out winter crafts for kids to keep them occupied. A lot of parents out there neglect kids crafts, figuring that they get enough of that in the schools. They might get craft supplies for their kids and allow them to do work on their own, but many adults believe that their dignity is above working on artistic projects themselves.
Crafts and hobbies are not only fun, but they are a great way to bring families together. They encourage creativity, and they allow kids to try out new things. It is not enough to allow your children to use crafts for kids themselves. Getting the best crafts for kids is mostly a matter of trial and error. Obviously, some of it depends on age, but some of it also depends on the kids individual temperaments. Some kids crafts work well for everyone at a certain age. For example, young children all love to glue glitter to paper. At a certain age, all girls and some boys love to make friendship bracelets.

Wooden Venetian Blinds

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Wooden venetian blinds are very popular at the moment as the wood slats offer a real warmth to your home.

Many shops and online retailers sell them and it’s no wonder that the less DIY savvy among us have trouble fitting them. Therefore the best thing to do is head over to www.woodblindsexpress.co.uk where you will actually see videos of measuring for blinds and videos of how to fit a wooden venetian blind.

For those that don’t know wooden venetian blinds come in 3 slat sizes - 25mm, 35mm and 50mm and in a range of colours. A cheaper way of buying a quality wooden blind is to have one that is “cut down” which simply means the blinds are manufactured in bulk which saves on cost, and then simply trimmed to fit your measurments.

Blood Sugar Level Chart Can Be Very Important

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

Monitoring your blood sugar levels is very important and one the best ways of this is to keep a blood sugar level chart. When you are affected with hypoglycemia or diabetes, it is always advised that you regularly monitor your blood sugar level. This would help you find out if you have met the required sugar level you have to maintain - and you will be able to determine the causes on the increase and decrease of your blood sugar. Frequent testing would also reduce the risk of having complications from your hypoglycemia or diabetes.
One of the best ways to keep track of your blood sugar level is by preparing a blood sugar level chart. It is a daily monitoring chart that you will have to prepare every week. With this chart, you need to log on your food intakes, carbohydrates counts, activities, blood sugar count and insulin doses. You also need to note down your comments on your medications, stress and emotions. It would be helpful if you record more information in your blood sugar level chart that you think can probably affect the rise and fall of your blood glucose level. For easy recording and reviewing.

In today’s world security should be paramount for all of us, whether it is personal security, home security or car security. But you will be surprised how many there people there are that I know who have burglar alarms in their house, but few people take the time to think about security systems in their cars. If you are one of these people or concerned about your car security then you need to read on. Either they buy an automobile with a car alarm system built-in, or they never get around to installing one. Both of these ideas are bad. Some car alarm systems, you see, are better than others.
A vehicle with a defective car security system is often worse than one with no car alarm at all. I know. I have witnessed effective car alarms first hand. One of the cars I drove, for example, used to have a car alarm system that was no good. It would go off all the time on its own.

Asking Your Boyfriend Questions In A Non-Confrontational Way

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Using this strategy, you get the real scoop, with your boyfriend none the wiser. Slap me on the wrist, but it works. All women want to know if their boyfriend is the cheating kind. This question to ask your boyfriend must definitely be broken into several queries, each giving you subtle clues that give you a pretty good idea. For example, instead of blurting out, “Would you ever cheat on me?”, you’ve got to start with observations, but no questions. Watch his reactions to other women in public places. Does he look at every attractive woman? How does he react to your girlfriends? See, you’ve got two answers already. Actions speak for themselves.

Doing A Reverse Address Search

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

You may know that when you get a call from an unknown number that you can go and use what is called a reverse phone number lookup to find out who has been calling. What you may not know is that you can do the same thing with an address if you want to know where something is coming from. Most of your monthly bills and correspondence from those you know are not going to be a problem, but there are plenty of things that come in the mail that have no name attached to the address, and you may want to do a reverse address search to tell you more about who is sending you mail. Answering the phone to an unknown caller is a bit more daunting than opening up mail that is unidentified, but even opening it can leave things a mystery.
