Consignment shops will often offer Cheap Christmas Costumes that have been worn no more than once or twice, if that. You’ll often find that they have several racks for men, women and children. You can get a biblical costume that you would swear cost $50 if you were not told what the sticker was for, really. Consignment stores and thrift stores can be great hunting grounds for the entire family.
If you aren’t averse to the idea of used costumes, online classifieds like Craigslist, Pennysaver USA and eBay can be sources of great bargains. You’ll often find spectacular costumes and you won’t even have to be flexible about what you go as.
Shopping at the peak costume buying season is a formula for needless expense. Instead, be sure to go the day after Christmas for the following year’s Christmas, and you’ll get unbelievably great bargains. But if you want something for this year’s holidays, consider shopping at the very last minute. Buying it on the day, perhaps an hour before you need to wear a costume and scare the day living daylights out of your neighbors, will get the price knocked down to perhaps 80% off.
And if all fails, get on the costume swap website. You only have to pay five dollars for saint costumes.

Black Spider Man Costume
We should be familiar with the black Spider Man costume. We’ve seen the usually even tempered Peter Parker turn angry and out-of-control when in black. There’s quite a back-story on that topic alone, but there’s more recent black news in the Marvel Comics world – a bi-racial teenager is replacing Peter Parker in the fight to save humanity.
Peter Parker first appeared as Spider Man in Marvel Comics 1962. A white, shy, teenage boy that gets bit by a spider during a high school field trip started the saga. He discovered he had an incredible spider-like sixth sense, amazing hearing, and phenomenal strength. As Peter hones his skills, he first turns Spider Man into a TV personality in the wrestling circuit.
The fun is short lived as Peter learns the foundational Spider Man theme lesson, “With great power, comes great responsibility”, the hard way. He watched his guardian, Uncle Ben, be shot and killed by the same fleeing thief he had the opportunity to stop just minutes earlier. From that day forward, Peter decided to use his new found powers to fight all evil doers on behalf of the rest of mankind. Working as a news photographer to support his now widowed Aunt May by day and a super hero by night, he learns to use his web-shooters to support his efforts to scale walls and buildings in his fight against many foes.
One of the strangest foes was a symbiote by the name of Venom, the creator of the black Spider Man costume. This extra-terrestrial black goo first attached itself to Spidey’s suit when he touched a meteorite that had crash landed on earth. Unbeknownst to Peter, the symbiote sought Peter as its’ host, feeding his most aggressive tendencies. The only way to break free from this life-sucker was through sonic sound waves. Church bells finally did the trick.
The symbiote slithered away, only to adhere to a nemesis of Peter’s, Eddie Brock. Peter was responsible for Eddie having lost his job at the newspaper. Eddie’s rivalry and quest for revenge against Peter continued to provide the symbiote with his favorite sustenance. Venom appeared again and again as Spidey’s foe with a range of different hosts, including some of the city’s most notorious criminals, furnishing them with an edge of supernatural power to be used against Spider Man.
We saw the super hero in the black Spider Man costume from 1984 to 1988 in the comic book version. This led to an uproar of Spidey’s most loyal fans. They argued the red and blue suit was as iconic as those of superman and batman, and not to be changed. They felt better when they realized Peter could rid himself of the symbiote and revert back to the true red and blue.
We’ve just experienced another bit of fan-based grumbling in Aug. 2011 when a bi-racial Spider Man was revealed in the Ultimate Spider Man series. This series is a parallel universe created in 2000 to breathe a renewed contemporary life into Marvel’s usual Peter Parker storyline. Miles Morales, a black-latino new yorker takes the web-slingers reins in this series.
Fans once again have mixed feelings about messing with a good thing. With the same foundational purpose as his predecessor, Miles learns that “with great power comes great responsibility”. The consensus seems to be that as long as we have our web-casting, crime fighting super-hero fighting foes for us, we embrace whatever color is beneath the red and blue or black Spider Man costume!

Bam Bam Costume
If you’ve ever had anger management issues, then this Bam Bam Costume is for you! Perhaps the fact that Bam Bam was raised by Mastodons (a prehistoric animal similar to that of a mammoth or elephant with giant tusks) created the need for the temperamental toddler to carry a big club around.
When one spots the Bam Bam Costume, he knows two loud smacks of the club, the words, “Bam Bam”, and the shaking of the entire room is soon to follow. It’s been said that Bam Bam may have ADHD, but no one has really proven this theory!
Bam Bam or “Bamm Bamm” was a fictitious character that first appeared on the animated cartoon series created by Hanna Barbera in the 1970’s called The Flintstones. The cartoon took place in a prehistoric town called “Bedrock”. The show is based on the main characters Fred Flintstone along with his wife Wilma Flintstone and their friends Barney and Betty Rubble.
Are you seeing a very ‘rocky’ theme going on here? That’s because Fred and Barney work together at the town quarry together, they live in stone shaped houses with stone furniture and drive a “cave mobile” which sports round stone wheels! This cave mobile is powered by Fred and Barneys feet, and we usually hear them yelling “Yabba Dabba Doo!” In one episode we see the gang bowling with one big boulder which knocks down stone pins. They keep score on a stone tablet.
Fred and Wilma have a daughter named “Pebbles” and a little dinosaur looking dog named “Dino”. Pebbles wears a pony tail on the top of her head with a bone in it. Barney and Betty adopt their son “Bam Bam” from the adoption agency. Bam Bam and Pebbles become lifelong friends.
The Bam Bam costume pretty much stays consistent throughout their life stages. He simply runs around in some shorts and an animal print vest while baring his chest. He also wears a little animal print mini baseball type cap. He’s never without his club, however. Between his club and his unusual strength, the foundation is laid for some pretty funny situations in the show. Bam Bam usually disrupts the most quiet or delicate scenarios with his pounding and yelling shenanigans.
Bam Bam shows less off-the-charts strength in his teen years. He and Pebbles hang out together with their Bedrock High School friends, Wiggy, Moonrock and Penny. From there Bam Bam goes on to be a mechanic and cherishes his dune-buggy – like cave car.
Eventually, Bam Bam and Pebbles fall in love and get married. Pebbles supports Bam Bam in his dream to become a screenwriter, so they move to Hollyrock. They go on to have children named Roxy and Chip.
In the 1994 motion picture Flintstones the Bam Bam costume is depicted as simply a fig leaf instead of his torn shorts. At first he appears like a cave-man like character. He takes a bath and emerges with his signature bowl cut! Whichever way you want to cut it, you’ll definitely make an entrance in this Bam Bam Costume!

As we shop at our local department or grocery store, we can’t help notice the seasonal displays of candy being shown at the main door. They are reminding us that the trick or treat holiday season is approaching and that decisions have to be made regarding costume choices.
Our neighborhood love the horror disguises more than hero or villain choices. Star Wars and Star Trek were big a couple of years ago, but the traditional scary styles have made a comeback. Selecting and buying a halloween costume can be a tough and painful process to go through. I know this from experience. Every halloween season, around this time, I have a time time deciding on what to wear. My eagerness to be original and create a sensation at the parties I will go to make me very hesitant to take that final decision on what to wear. I say this with all sincerity; it literally takes me hours of research through many days to find what I really want.
This halloween, however, I have already decided that I will go for an ethnic costume. To be honest, last year I saw somebody wearing an impressive traditional german outfit and the idea of wearing something along this line of wearing folklore costume of some sort, quickly overwhelmed me.

There are other similar characters who would also be perfect for Halloween and have the same macabre appearance: Vampira, Morticia from the Addams Family and Lily Munster from the Munsters. There are a whole series of suitable characters both male and female in the Addams Family and the Munsters series and films. You could make a whole theme out of either series.
