Designing Smart Ideas Anyone Can Easily Afford
Thursday, August 19th, 2010For most of us, moving into a new space means one thing: a chance to redecorate! Decorating a new home is fun! Of course, many people are intimidated by the cost and size of a home decorating process. You will be happy to learn that there are quite a lot of ways to create a nice, friendly vibe to your house without having to spend your entire bank account. It is easy to decorate your new house inexpensively. How can you decorate your house or apartment without dropping your entire paycheck on a decorator? We have a few ideas you might want to use.
Don’t bother with expensive art houses. Unless you want to make your own, don’t bother trying to hunt down original pieces of art right now. Instead of original pieces, look for prints of your favorite works. Original art is more expensive than prints. It is easier to take prints home and hang them than it is to do the same with original works of art. Most prints are created in easy to frame sizes so you won’t even need to have the work professionally framed (another budget saver)! Simply choose a frame you like from the discount racks at the frame shop and do the work yourself! Going to the frame shop is something you can do in your own time-you don’t have to worry about working around a professional framer’s schedule and, if you buy the frame on sale, you can save quite a lot of money!
If owning your own art is something that you must do, create your own original art! Can you think of a better way to fill your home with original art than to make it yourself? Even the cost of art supplies is cheaper than the cost of an original painting or sculpture by someone else. Creating the art can be done in your spare time (and is a great way to spend an afternoon or evening). You could even turn it into a family activity. Your kids’ bedrooms can easily be decorated using the art work that the kids make themselves. If you are new to art, check a few instructional books or videos out of the library to help you get started. Then, when someone comes over and says “wow, who did that great painting?” You can say proudly “I did!”
Most people get great joy out of decorating with things they already own. It just means that they have to look around and get creative. Sometimes a bare wall has more personality than one filled with framed paintings.
Store bought art is fine, but sometimes the decorations you make yourself are even better! Don’t rush-give yourself time to think about the decorations you want most. The only people that benefit from your rushing to decorate are the people who sell you the decorations.
