Fine Lamps are different than the type of lamps typically available for under $100. Fine lamps should be well designed and well constructed. Many, although not all fine lamps are designer lamps. Instead of using the lighting from the heavy duty ceiling light, why not invest in a few table lamps? Not just any old lamp will do. Before you decide to head over to the nearest store or most popular internet site, you need to know what you’re on the look-out for. Look at the theme, look, and feel of your room. Then pick out at least two or three lamps that would suit that room. If you have a theme to your room or the rooms in your home and have no ideal of where to begin, just take a few steps back and look at every room from a distance, then find a few lamps that you think would compliment it rather nicely.

Home Lamps: The most common styles are Contemporary, Modern, Traditional, and Transitional. If you want a look that is comfortable, clean, sleek, and spacious, go with a Contemporary or Modern style. Modern and Contemporary styles have some similarities. The main difference between the two styles is that modern style is always changing. A Modern style includes many of these elements, but to be Modern the room reflects cutting edge design ideas of the time. If you want a state-of-the-art Modern style in your home, you may have to update the look when a new trend emerges. Traditional styles are usually reflective of European or Asian inspired design prior to the modern movement which began around the 1930’s.

Home Lamps: Light Emitting Diodes (LED) have grown tremendously in popularity over the past few years of the energy efficiency and longevity of these lighting devices. Unlike incandescent bulbs, LEDs do not have filaments and they generate very little heat. However, LED’s can be expensive to purchase when compared to the incandescent or compact florescent light (CFL) bulbs. For some lighting fixtures, an LED bulb may or may not be the most functional at this time. Compared to the incandescent and the CFL, the LED is better in terms of energy efficiency and lower operating cost. The LED produces a good quality of light for certain tasks, requires almost 90% less energy than incandescent lights, is non-toxic, and has a long life. The development of LED lighting is still unfolding and in the next few years bulb prices should come down and new, more versatile bulb designs created. Assuming these happen, the LED is the likely lighting source for the future.
